With the introduction in the 2000s of spray paints meant specifically for plastics, it became easy to change the color of everything from plastic patio furniture to laminate furniture. Many spray paint manufacturers make paint specifically for plastics, such as Krylon's Fusion line. There are many colors available at most home improvement and hobby supply stores.

Select a well-ventilated area or a space outside to set up your painting. Cover the area with newspaper or drop cloths.

Remove the cap of the spray paint can. Shake the spray paint can vigorously for at least two minutes to mix.

Hold the paint 8 to 10 inches from the plastic and spray in a sweeping motion from side to side.

Apply a thin coat of paint, and wait two minutes. Apply another thin coat. Repeat until the surface is well covered.

Allow it to dry for one hour before handling. The surface will be hardened and chip-resistant within one week.
