How to Remove Adhesive From Steel Doors

Ventilate the area you're working in. Spray the adhesive with a lubricant solvent containing petroleum distillates. Let it soak in for 10 minutes. Carefully remove the residue with a plastic scraper. Wash the remains away with a scrubbing cleanser, and rinse with cold water.

Apply a citrus based hand cleaner or solvent to the adhesive. Let it set, then remove with a plastic scraper.

Soak paper towel with rubbing alcohol and stick it to the adhesive for 15 minutes. Rewet the paper towel if necessary.

Soak a rag or paper towel with ammonia and place it on the door for 15 minutes. Scrape the softened adhesive away with a plastic scraper.

Apply nail polish remover with acetone to the adhesive. Scrape the adhesive residue from the steel door with a plastic scraper.
