A store-bought rust remover may be the most effective cleaning option, but a few home remedies work equally as well.
Things You Will Need
White Vinegar
-
Lay a clean dry towel on a flat surface.
-
Place the damaged denim garment on the towel, stain side facing up.
-
Saturate the stained area with white vinegar.
-
Blot it dry with a paper towel.
-
Set the garment outside in direct sunlight to dry.
-
Launder the item as usual.
-
Repeat these steps if the stain persists.
Rhubarb Stalks
-
Add 1 lb. sliced rhubarb stalks to an extra large pot of water filled 3/4 full.
-
Bring water to a boil, and let it sit for 20 minutes.
-
Place your denim garment in the water mixture.
-
Soak the garment for 24 hours.
-
Remove the garment from the water, and launder as usual.
