Origin
Window wax, also known as glass wax or glass polish, was made popular by Harold Schafer, founder of the Gold Seal Company, in 1945. He originally founded the company to sell floor wax, but it was his glass wax formula that brought him success when it began selling nationally in 1948.
Ingredients
Window wax, similar to other types of cleaning wax, is made up of what is known as a polymer, which is an extremely large molecule made up of several small molecules. These are typically manufactured and not found naturally. The typical ingredients for a wax of this type are polymers known as polybutadiene, polybutene, and polyisobutylene.
Uses
Window wax can be used to clean windows and to help remove dirt and other particles that may have gotten lodged in the surface of a window. It also leaves windows with a smoother surface when properly applied.
