How Do I Run a Diagnostic Test on My Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer?

Jon Stefansson

Whirlpool washing machine diagnostic tests help technicians and appliance-savvy owners quickly identify the source of a fault. After a sequence of buttons are selected, the washing machine automatically runs through a battery of tests on the door lock, inlet valves, heater, drain pump and motor, among components. Empty the appliance of clothes before beginning a diagnostic test on your Whirlpool duet sport washer.

Step 1

Close the door of the washer with the power switched off. This is the first step in activating the diagnostic mode.

Step 2

Press the "Control On" button and select the "Drain/Spin" cycle via the cycle selector dial.

Step 3

Depress the "Spin Select" button until "No Spin" is selected.

Step 4

Push the "Prewash" or "Rinse/Hold" button four times within five seconds. "C:00" will appear on the display when the diagnostic mode is running; the appliance will automatically begin to run through the checks.
