Close the drain on the sink basin and fill the sink with warm water. Add a few drops of mild dish soap into the water as you are filling the sink.

Wet the rag with the soapy water and then wring it out to remove the excess water.

Rub the nickel with the rag to remove dirt and fingerprint grease.

Place the tip of a soft toothbrush designed for children into the soapy water. Use the toothbrush to scrub hard-to-reach areas, such as between the base of the faucet and the water knobs. Rotate the toothbrush in a small circular motion to scrub the surface. Add additional soapy water to the toothbrush as needed.

Wipe the faucet dry with a cotton towel and then empty the sink.
