  1. Turn the Steelcase office chair over and locate the lever or button under the seat. Steelcase chairs use either a lever or a button to adjust the height, depending on the model.

  2. Sit on the chair and lift your bottom up so that your weight is not pressing down. Reach under the seat and press down on the lever or push the button. Stay lifted up off the seat to raise the height of the chair.

  3. Sit down on the chair while pressing the lever or button to lower the height.
