How to Get Ink From a Bingo Dauber out of the Carpet

Mary Ylisela

A bingo dauber conveniently replaces bingo chips. The permanent ink in the dauber marks the spot and removes the risk of losing your spaces when someone bumps your card. But if your little bingo player decides to use the carpet as his bingo card, you're left with ink stains on the carpeting.

A bingo dauber marks your space with an ink circle.

Bingo dauber ink stains are treated similarly to other permanent marker stains. You can get a bingo dauber ink stain off your carpet with the appropriate supplies and effective stain-removal techniques.

Tip

Substitute table salt or baby powder for the baking soda to absorb ink. Use a cotton ball or cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol to dab at the ink stain and prevent it from spreading to the surrounding carpet fibers.

  1. Pour baking soda over the bingo dauber ink stain. Leave the baking soda in place for 20 minutes to absorb moisture and oil from the ink. Vacuum the baking soda off the carpeting.

  2. Clean carpeting with a soft sponge to avoid damaging the fibers.
  3. Wet a clean sponge with rubbing alcohol. Squeeze out excess moisture. Sponge the ink stain to remove as much as possible. Rinse the sponge as ink is lifted. Apply more rubbing alcohol and continue to dab at the stain.

  4. Place 2 cups of warm water in a bucket. Add 1 tablespoon of dishwashing detergent and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Stir the three ingredients together with a spoon.

  5. Dampen a clean cloth with the detergent and vinegar solution. Dab at the remaining bingo dauber ink stain on your carpeting. Blot the carpeting with a damp cloth to rinse off the detergent solution.

  6. Mix 1 cup of warm water with 1 teaspoon dishwashing detergent and 1 tablespoon of ammonia to treat any remaining ink stains on the carpet. Sponge the carpeting with a cloth and the ammonia solution until the remaining ink is gone.

  7. Rinse the carpet fibers with a damp cloth. Allow the carpeting to air-dry.
