For a beautiful shine and marvelously soothing fragrance, a natural furniture polish is the way to go.  And it’s simple to make, using Jojoba oil and essential oils.

Here’s how.

Create an Aromatherapy Furniture Polish

  1. Use Jojoba oil, available on-line and in health food stores. This rich oil gives wood a beautiful shine. Fill he bottle with 1 fluid ounce (30ml) of oil.
  2. Use 100% pure essential oils-only these offer aromatherapy benefits. The label will state "100% pure." You can find them at health food stores and online. Don’t use synthetic oils-they do not have the same benefits.
  3. Add 10 drops of an essential oil whose fragrance you enjoy to the Jojoba oil. Some suggestions include floral fragrances such Ylang-Ylang, Lavender, and Lemongrass, as well as such forest fragrances as Spruce, Pine, and Cedarwood.
  4. Cap the bottle and shake well to blend the oils.
  5. Polish the piece of furniture gently with a soft cloth and 1/2 a teaspoon of oil. Add oil to your cloth as needed.
  6. Tip

If you want to make a larger batch of oil, simply increase the proportions, such as doubling or tripling the amounts. The oil will keep.

    Warning

Do not use oils if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant without getting professional advice. If any skin irritation occurs, stop using immediately.
