How to Make Dish Washing Soap

While making your own dish soap takes more time than grabbing a bottle from the shelf at the store, homemade soap has numerous benefits. Not only does it save you money, but homemade dish soap works well for people with sensitive skin. Since the homemade soap lacks harsh chemicals, it doesn’t dry out your skin and doesn’t typically give people allergic skin reactions.

  1. Pour 1/2 cup of water into a recycled dish soap bottle.

  2. Slowly pour in 2 cups of liquid castille soap.

  3. Add 1/2 tsp. lemon essential oils to the mixture.

  4. Put the lid on the bottle. Slowly shake the bottle to mix the ingredients. Shaking the bottle too fast causes the dish soap to foam up.

  5. Use 2 tsp. dish soap for each load of dishes.

  6. Tip

    If you have greasy dishes, add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the dish water. Adding the vinegar to the dish soap directly causes it to curdle.
