With a little routine maintenance, you can stave off or repair many mechanical breakdowns. Take a few moments to get your plate compactor running close to its original tip-top form.

Check the spark plug and set it to the proper gap if the machine is difficult to start. Clean the spark plug. Replace it if the insulation looks worn. If your plate compactor does not work correctly, go to the next step.

Check the spark plug wiring. Replace it if it is defective. If your plate compactor does not work correctly, go to the next step.

Check the ignition coil and replace it if it is defective. If your plate compactor does not work correctly, go to the next step

Check the wiring for the "On/Off" switch and replace it if it is defective. If your plate compactor does not work correctly, go to the next step.

Check the air cleaner filter and fuel filter. If either part is dirty, replace it. If your plate compactor does not work correctly, call for service.
