How to Use the Sanitize Feature on the Frigidaire Dishwasher

Margaret Mills

The sanitize feature on newer models of Frigidaire dishwashers ensures the cleanliness of your dishes by heating the water for the final rinse cycle to 155 degrees Fahrenheit for nine minutes. You will find the “Sanitize” button pad in the line of pads along the top front of the machine.

The Frigidaire dishwasher's sanitize feature includes an extended rinse cycle.

The water heater that provides hot water to the dishwasher should be set at 120 degrees. Any interruptions, such as a power failure, will interrupt the heating process, resulting in your dishes not being sanitized.

Tip

Before using the "Sanitize" feature, ensure that your water heater is set at 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  1. Load the dishwasher with dirty dishes. Add the detergent and any rinse aid you use. Latch the door and select the cycle you want to use. You can only use the sanitize feature on the “Pots and Pans,” “Normal Wash” or “Econo Wash” cycles. "Econo Wash" is for lightly used dishes.

  2. Press the “Sanitize” pad. A light will come on above the pad.

  3. Turn on the faucet in a sink near the dishwasher and let it run until the water is hot. Turn off the water and press “Start” to run the dishwasher.
