How to Replace a Frigidaire Filter

Frigidaire refrigerators and freezers can have two distinct filters: one for water, and one for air.
The water filter filters the ice and water dispenser line, and the air filter filters the air in the refrigerator and reduces smells. You can find the filters at the top right side of the fresh-food compartment in the refrigerator. Both the air and water filters should be changed every six months.

Step 1

Monitor the control panel periodically for filter status lights. The control panel will tell you when to replace a filter. The water filter light comes on at 200 gallons.

Step 2

Pull the air filter housing straight out and discard the filter.

Step 3

Place the new filter in the housing.

Step 4

Slide the housing back into the fridge.

Step 5

Press and hold the air filter reset button on the control panel. The display will read “Good” when it has been reset.

Step 6

Turn off the ice maker.

Step 7

Remove the water filter by pushing on it. Slide the filter out of its housing.

Step 8

Slide the new filter in until it stops and snaps into place. You should hear a snap.

Step 9

Flush the water for a few minutes by pressing a glass against the dispenser and discarding the contents.

Step 10

Turn on the ice maker.

Step 11

Press and hold the water filter reset button on the control panel. The display will read “Good” when it has been reset.
