How to Remove Dog Fecal Stains From Concrete

Tiffani Ice

No matter how well trained dogs are, sometimes they do their business in places you would rather not have them go. When dogs go to the restroom in your driveway or on your front porch, they can leave dark, smelly spots on the concrete.

How to Remove Dog Fecal Stains From Concrete

Warning

Baking soda is harmful to some outdoor plants and grass. Use care when rinsing away the baking soda.

Tip

This procedure may need to be repeated a few times to remove old, or notoriously bad, stains.

Getting rid of these spots with a hose can be frustrating, but with the right cleaning method, you can forget about those disgusting stains forever.

  1. Soak the spot on the concrete with hot water, preferably boiling.

  2. Sprinkle one cup of baking soda over the top of the stain. If the stain is bigger than 6 inches, apply an extra half cup for every extra 3 inches of stain.

  3. Scrub the baking soda into the stain with a hard-bristled brush, and let sit overnight.

  4. Pour a half cup of hot water over the top of the baking soda, and scrub the stain with the hard-bristled brush once more.

  5. Wash the baking soda, and stain, away with hot water. If the concrete you are washing is in a basement, wipe up the liquid with a towel, or use a wet/dry vacuum to remove the water.
