Types of Sentry Safe Keys
The Sentry Safe Group manufactures safes that unlock through keys, combination locks or a combination of both. Each Sentry safe that operates with keys comes with one set of two keys, and additional or replacement keys can be ordered online, through mail or by telephone.
Sentry keys are cut by code to match the serial number of the Sentry safe.
Home and Business Safe Keys
Sentry offers several models of home safe that open with keys, including cash and key boxes, security safes and fireproof safes. The keys are placed in the key lock to open each safe. Business safes include security and depository models, as well as three- and four-drawer vertical fire files to protect contents. Sentry fire-safe models such as the 1100P and 1710 feature up to a half hour of fire protection, and the Electronic Security Box features a programmable lock with key override. Replacement keys are available for all Sentry home and business safes.
Gun Safe Keys
Sentry gun safes include models with key entry (G-1035) as well as models with combination locks in addition to key entry (G-1459DC). Sentry gun safes can hold multiple rifles or handguns, and feature a carpeted floor. The Sentry G-1459DC features an eight-lever security key, as well as a double bit key for added security and peace of mind. Sentry gun safes come in fire-safe models as well. Gun safes with fire protection feature electronic locks as opposed to key entry. Replacement keys for Sentry gun safes can be ordered with a signed, notarized statement of gun ownership.
Replacement Keys
Sentry offers replacement keys through its website, provided the owner has access to the model number, serial number and lock number of the safe. A maximum of 10 sets of two keys can be ordered, and authorized Sentry safe dealers can also handle replacement key orders. For more information on replacement keys, contact Sentry’s Customer Service Care Center at 800-828-1438, email Sentry through its online form, or contact an authorized Sentry retailer. Sentry replacement keys cost approximately $25 per set, plus shipping and handling.
Opening Electronic Sentry Safes with Keys
To open an electronic Sentry safe, the tubular key is inserted into the lock to the left of the key pad. The key is turned all the way to the right until the plunger pops out. The five-digit factory code is then pressed, and the green "Proceed" light comes on, indicating that entry is granted.
