How to Recycle Pop Tabs

Pop tabs are the metal piece you use to open a can of soda pop.
The tab is the item on the top of the can with two holes.
They are made of aluminum, just like the cans themselves. Many charity organizations and schools collect pop tabs to raise money. You can donate the tabs or recycle them yourself. If you are recycling cans, you can leave the tabs attached. Scrap metal yards and some recycling centers pay money for the tabs. The amount of money given depends on the current rates. .

Step 1

Remove the tabs from the top of the cans by bending them forward and then back several times. The metal should break, releasing the tab.

Step 2

Count how many tabs you have as you put in them in a zipper bag. Write down the number on the front of the bag.

Step 3

Take the tabs to a scrap metal center or a recycling center. You can also donate them to any organization collecting tabs.
