How to Make a Bamboo Chair
Bamboo furniture lasts a long time and gives you a sense of relaxation. It will make a great addition to any outside bar or patio in general. Bamboo is more environmentally friendly, and better to use than your average wood due to its ability to withstand the outside elements. Making bamboo furniture is fun and easy to do.
Frame of the Chair
Sand all wood pieces before you start to build your chair.
Lay the 46-inch poles down side by side. Measure and mark 30 inches from the widest end of the pole; this will be the bottom of your chair leg.
Take one of the 17-inch boards and screw it to the poles just under the 30-inch mark you made. Use two screws on each side of the board.
Lay the 30-inch poles 17 inches apart, and screw another 17-inch board to the widest part of the pole. Use two screws on each side of the board.
Take one of the 15-inch boards and screw one end to one of the 30-inch poles. Screw the other end of the 15-inch board to the 46-inch pole just under the 30-inch mark you made. You should now be able to stand the chair up on its legs. Take another 15-inch board and screw it to the other side of the front and back legs. You now have a completed chair frame.
Seat, Back and Footrest
Screw seven 2-by-17-inch slats onto the seat of the chair. Use one screw on each side of the slat. You will be screwing each slat into the top of the 15-inch board that connects the front and back legs.
Screw the remaining seven 2-by-17-inch slats into the back of the chair. Starting from the seat and going all the way to the top of the 46-inch poles.
Attach the remaining 17-inch boards to the front and back legs of the chair, 12 inches from the bottom of the chair.
Screw the remaining 15-inch boards to the sides of the chair, attaching them to the front and back legs of the chair. Screw them in place 12 inches from the bottom of the chair.
Paint a coat of varnish over the whole chair. If you're doing this chair for an outside bar or patio, choose a varnish that can withstand the outdoor elements.
