# How to Calculate Linear Feet With Dimensions

A linear foot is twelve consecutive inches that form a straight line.
In other words, a liner foot is just a regular foot. If you have access to the dimensions of a particular object or room, you can use those dimensions to convert the area of a room to linear feet in just a few seconds. You just have to take into consideration the specifics of the dimensions you're using in your conversion.

## Step 1

Divide any inch measurements by "12" to convert to linear feet. For example, if you measured the length or height of a particular wall or room at 225 inches, 225 divided by 12 equals 18.75 linear feet. There are 12 inches for every one linear foot.

## Step 2

Multiply any centimeter measurements by "0.033" to convert to linear feet. For example, if you measured a particular object in your home as having a length of 25 centimeters, 25 multiplied by 0.033 = 0.825 linear feet. One centimeter is equal to 0.033 linear feet.

## Step 3

Multiply any yard measurement by "3" to convert to linear feet. For example, if a particular wall or fence in your yard measured 12 yards, 12 multiplied by 3 equals 36 linear feet. There are 3 linear feet for every one yard.
