Because heat pumps help to cool and heat your home depending on the season, they are given two different energy efficiency ratings. The first is the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER), which is a measure of the amount of energy required to produce a specific cooling effect. The Trane Xb13 has SEER rating of 13.25. The second rating is the Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF). This measures the amount of heat output in BTUs compared with the amount of energy a heating unit consumes. The Trane Xb13 has an HSPF of 8.5
The Trane Xb13 heat pump is built with name-brand components that are tested for reliability and durability. The compressor is built by Climastuff, the outdoor coil is built by Spine Fin and the base pan is built by Duratuff. In addition, the Trane Xb13 includes full-side louvered panels, rust-resistant paint that is baked on and fasteners manufactured to resist corrosion.
The Trane Xb13 heat pump comes in a variety of sizes. The size of the unit does affect the cooling capacity --- larger units are capable of greater cooling. Units range in size from 33 by 29 by 26 inches up to 41 by 37 by 34 inches. The smallest unit has a cooling capacity of 18,000 BTUH and the largest of 60,000 BTHU.
