How to Convert Square Feet to Cubic Yards for Concrete

Calculate the square feet of the space by measuring the length with a tape measure and multiplying it by the width.

Determine the depth or height that you need for the concrete by using the tape measure to mark the vertical space taken up by the concrete. Multiply that number by the square footage to determine cubic feet.

Divide your cubic foot number by 27, since there are 27 cubic feet in one cubic yard. The resulting number will be the cubic yards needed for the concrete.
