Things You Will Need
- Measuring tape
- Paper
- Pencil
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Straight pins
- Sewing machine (or needle and thread)
-
Lay a piece of paper against the flat front of the chair arm. Trace the outline of the chair arm to get the correct curvature on the end piece of the cover.
-
Cut the paper along the trace lines to create a pattern. Measure the length of the curve, which will determine the size of the cover.
-
Wash, dry, and iron your fabric.
-
Lay the fabric flat, and place the pattern on top of it. Trace around the pattern. Add 1/4-inch all around, and draw cutting lines with the added measurement.
-
On the fabric, measure a square that is the length of the curve. Add 1/4-inch on all sides, and draw cutting lines.
-
Cut out both pieces.
-
Using a sewing machine (or needle and thread), hem 1/4-inch on three sides of the square and the bottom edge of the front curved piece.
-
Attach the remaining edge of the square piece and the curved edge of the front piece with straight pins.
-
Sew these pieces together, removing the pins as you go along.
-
Place the cover on the chair arm, and follow the same steps to create a cover for the other chair arm.
