The Water Doesn't Drain From the Machine in a Samsung Dishwasher

The Samsung Group, whose headquarters is in Seoul, South Korea, offers consumer and commercial technology, including home appliances. Samsung manufactures dishwashers that feature stainless steel finish and extremely quiet operation.

If your Samsung dishwasher is not draining properly, you can usually fix this problem without outside assistance. Such a problem is common and is usually easy to fix.

If your Samsung dishwasher is not draining properly, check the drain hose, particularly if you receive the “SE” error. Remove any clogs from the hose and the air gap if you have one installed. The drain hose is connected to the back of your dishwasher and the water inlet valve. Disconnect the hose from both the valve and dishwasher. Use a flashlight to look inside both the air gap and the hose, and dig out any clogs with a plastic utensil. Verify that the hose is not kinked.

The pump is responsible for directing water to the drain at the base of your tub. If the pump isn’t working properly, it may be clogged with debris. Disconnect the dishwasher from the power source and remove the lower rack and spray arm. Using a flashlight, completely examine the pump. Dig out any debris with a plastic utensil or toothpick. Clean the filters near the pump as well if they are dirty. If the pump is clean, see if any parts of it are broken. It’s difficult to fix components on the pump, so you need to replace the entire pump.

Timer/Drain Valve

Certain Samsung models have a timer and a drain valve. The drain valve has a solenoid on the inside that opens and closes the valve. The timer tells the valve when to open. If the drain valve is stuck, clean it if it’s dirty, or remove any objects blocking it. Test the solenoid with a multitester. You must replace it if you receive an open reading. The valve has a lever. This lever gets stuck if not lubricated properly. Examine the timer, and see if it’s burnt out. Replace it.

While it is uncommon for your Samsung dishwasher motor to break, it may get stuck if you haven’t used the dishwasher for a long time. Disconnect the dishwasher from the power source and manually turn the motor until it turns without any resistance. If the motor won’t turn at all or if it’s burned out or corroded, you must replace it since this component is difficult to fix.
