How to Remove a Sharp Carousel Microwave
The Sharp Carousel series of microwaves helped introduce the concept of turning food inside a microwave oven for faster and more even heating. The carousel, usually consisting of a glass dish in the bottom of the microwave, spins around on a spindle connected to gears inside the oven as the food cooks.
You can remove a Sharp Carousel microwave oven if it needs to be repaired or serviced.
Things You Will Need
- Screwdriver
- Helper
-
Unplug your Sharp Carousel microwave from the outlet. If the microwave is above the counter or range, the outlet will be in the cabinetry above the microwave.
-
Open the Sharp microwave door. Remove the glass plate for the carousel and any other objects inside.
-
Loosen the screws holding the Sharp microwave in place. They should be visible on the bottom of the cabinet above where the microwave is mounted. Don't loosen them all the way, just a few turns.
-
Ask your helper to brace the microwave in position from the bottom.
-
Loosen the screws in the cabinet until you back them all the way out of the microwave top.
-
Lower the front of the Sharp microwave slowly. Some Sharp microwaves feature mounting brackets that clip onto the back side of the microwave cabinet. Detach the microwave from the brackets by lifting up the back of the microwave about 1 inch after the front has been lowered by about 45 degrees.
