Turn off the supply of electricity to the microwave by unplugging it or shutting off the circuit breaker.
Open the door on the microwave.
Pry off the inside door panel using a standard screwdriver. Gently pry around the edges of the door panel with the screwdriver until the entire panel is loose. Work the panel off of the door, but be careful not to crack or break it.
Unscrew the two to three screws that secure the latching mechanism to the door frame using a Phillips screwdriver. Notice the position of the latch so you can place the new latch in the same position. Remove the old latch once the screws have been removed.
Set the new latch in place where the old one was removed and secure it with its screws. Tighten the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Do not overdrive the screws.
Snap the inner door panel back in place and turn on the electricity to the unit.
