  1. Move the lantern handle downward and grip the top of the lantern with one hand and the clear lantern housing with the other.

  2. Pull the cover off the clear plastic housing. Be cautious, as the lid is retained with small plastic clips. If you pull too hard, you could damage the clips.

  3. Remove the fluorescent bulb from the light socket by twisting it counterclockwise with your fingers, just as you would do with a regular light bulb. Discard the defective lightbulb, then thread the new bulb into the socket by turning it clockwise with your fingers.

  4. Place the lantern on a table and place the cover on top of the clear housing. Press down firmly on the cover with the palm of your hand to snap it into place.

The Drip Cap

  • The GE Steelbeam fluorescent lamp was manufactured with two different styles of light bulb.
  • Unfortunately, units that contain a long, straight bulb do not allow for bulb changes and should be discarded when the bulb goes out.
  • Move the lantern handle downward and grip the top of the lantern with one hand and the clear lantern housing with the other.
