How to Finish With Minwax Antique Oil Finish

Step 1

Sand the furniture piece until its surface is smooth throughout. Wipe off any dust with a cloth dipped in mineral spirits, a high-grade solvent.

Step 2

Pour a liberal amount of Minwax Antique Oil onto a cloth or brush and apply in in the direction of the wood grain until you have coated the entire piece of furniture.

Step 3

Wait five to 10 minutes and buff the wood with a clean cloth.

Step 4

Apply a second coat of Minwax Antique Oil Finish 24 hours after the first coat and repeat the buffing process.

Tips

For a super gloss, apply a third coat of finish 24 hours after you apply the second coat.

If you are having trouble buffing, apply a new coat immediately and try buffing again after a 10-minute wait period.

Do not use Minwax Antique Oil Finish on floors.
