How to Determine a Goodman HVAC's Capacity by the Serial Number

You can use Goodman Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, or HVAC, units in both homes and businesses, depending on the capacity of the unit.
If your Goodman unit is in need of repair or you are replacing it, you will need to know the capacity of the unit to order parts or to find a replacement that is able to function properly with the size of the area. You can't find the capacity of the unit with just the serial number, but you will be able to use the serial number along with a little more information about your unit to find that information.

Step 1

Write down the serial number and model number for the Goodman HVAC air conditioner unit. You will find the serial number and model number together on a steel plate fastened to the side, or top, of the unit.

Step 2

Call Goodman Consumer Affairs at 1-877-254-4729.

Step 3

Speak with a consumer affairs representative and provide the representative with the serial number and model number for your Goodman unit. The representative will be able to provide you with the month and year the unit was manufactured, as well as the plant at which it was manufactured. If your unit was manufactured in the last 10 years, as of November 2011, the representative also may be able to pull up the type of unit you have and give you the specs on the unit, including the capacity.

Warning

  • If you do not have your Goodman unit’s model number, the representative may not be able to provide you with the capacity without other information. Without the model number, you will need to supply the type of unit, such as a Goodman GMV95 or Goodman CPKE30. The type of unit should be listed on the side of the unit.
