Locate the portable air conditioner near a suitable window that will hold the exhaust vent. Do not plug in the air conditioner yet.
Open the window that will hold the air conditioner vent.
Use a brush and damp cloth to clear out any dust, leaves or other debris that might have collected on the windowsill. This will help ensure a good seal for the exhaust panel.
Insert the exhaust panel into the window. There may be a channel or ridge that locks into place at the bottom of the window. Extend the exhaust panel to the full width of the window.
Continue holding the exhaust panel in place with one hand. With your other hand, pull down the window until it locks in place over the top of the exhaust panel.
Secure the exhaust panel into place, if desired, by screwing it into the window frame.
Connect one end of the exhaust hose to the inlet on the exhaust panel. Secure in place with a hose clamp. Connect the other end of the exhaust hose to the outlet on the air conditioner. Secure with a clamp.
