How to Install a Corner Jacuzzi Tub

Tzvi Raphael

Everyone enjoys spending time in a Jacuzzi tub, for soothing tired muscles and general relaxation. If you’re looking for a good place in your home for such a tub, consider installing it in the corner of your bathroom, which leaves more space available in the rest of the bathroom.

Conserve space by installing your Jacuzzi in a corner of the bathroom.

Before you install your Jacuzzi tub, check the plumbing system in your bathroom, as well as the floor area and walls in the corner where you want to install it. Make sure the pipes are all operating efficiently, because it will be difficult to do so after the tub is installed.

  1. Measure your Jacuzzi tub and record its shape and size so you can buy a supporting wooden frame that fits your tub’s unique shape and measurements. Use a cordless drill to drive heavy screws through the wood frame to attach it to the wall. Insert the screws every 8 to 10 inches, to ensure that the frame is sturdy and immovable.

  2. Make mortar by mixing one part cement to three parts sand, then adding 2 gallons of water. Because you need a wet mortar, add more water as needed to get a thick but easily spreadable mix. Using a trowel, spread the mortar mix 1 or 2 inches thick -- depending on the size and weight of your tub -- on the area of the floor where the tub will sit. Time your work carefully in order to set the tub onto a wet mortar floor.

  3. Get help lifting the Jacuzzi and setting it into the frame. Seal the area around the tubusing a silicon applicator to apply waterproof silicon around the edge of the tub between the tub and tub frame.

  4. Use a wrench to tighten the tub’s connection with the drainpipe, and secure it in place with nuts. Install the drainage pipes and use a strainer cap to tighten them. Install the tub’s faucet and seal the threads with acrylic compound.

  5. Apply wood stain or paint to the frame from Step 1. After you apply the first coat, wait 12 hours for the stain or paint to dry and then apply a second coat.

  6. Tip

Pour some water into the tub and check that the water flows into the drain properly before filling it completely.
