Uses for Virex Disinfectant
Virex is the name of a product that is a powerful disinfectant and cleaner. The product complies with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards for bloodborne pathogens. It has a wide range of disinfectant abilities and is used in places such as schools, nursing homes, hotels and hospitals.
It does not harm floor or surface finishes. The product is also a deodorant so other products are not required in combination with its use.
Virex can be used on non-porous surfaces such as floors, equipment, tables and walls. It kills bacteria (microscopic organisms) that can be present in places like hospitals, public restrooms and food establishments. Examples of the bacteria it kills include; Staphylococcus (toxic shock) and the flesh eating type, bronchiseptica, legionella pneumophila, salmonella (many types) and shigella (many types). These bacteria and others cause such diseases as; cholera, dysentery, the plague, diphtheria, typhoid and tuberculosis.
Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria Control
Many bacteria have become resistant to antibiotics and are often associated with facilities that have patients such as hospitals, clinics and nursing homes. Bacteria such as E. coli and staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) must be controlled for the health of the patients, visitors and staff. Virex kills these pathogens, which makes its use in clinical settings vital to infection control.
Virex can be used in veterinarian practice in the same manner as other facilities such as hospitals. Examples of contaminants specific to veterinarian medicine is avian infectious bronchitis (IBV) and influenza, canine distemper and feline viral rhinotracheitis.
Fungus, Mold and Yeast Control
Virex kills many types of fungus, yeast and mold. An examples is athlete's foot fungus--trichophyton mentagrophytes. Virex is also used to prevent the growth of mold and mildew.
General odors are eliminated by Virex such as odor from urine in restrooms and it works as an odor "counteractant." The product also eliminates bacteria that cause odors.
