Instructions for Babi Italia Crib
Babi Italia’s Classic Convertible Crib adjusts from a crib to a toddler bed and a daybed. Its sturdy design ensures that, when properly assembled, the frame won’t wobble no matter which type of bed you convert it to. Babi Italia cribs need a standard-sized crib mattress that is sold separately.
Assembling the Babi Italia crib isn't difficult but it is good to have someone to help you.
Tip
Remove one stationary rail and replace the bolts into the empty holes on the headboard and footboard to convert the crib to a daybed. Directions for toddler bed conversion come with the guard rail, which you must purchase separately. The crib mattress should be placed at the highest level for newborns and the lowest level for children who can pull themselves up on the rails. The minimum age recommended by Babi Italia for toddler bed use is 15 months, and the maximum weight for the crib and toddler bed is 50 pounds.
-
Insert the barrel nuts into the holes on the sides of the stabilizer bars with the slotted end facing out.
-
Insert a lock washer and then a flat washer onto four Allen head bolts.
-
Slide the bolts from the outside through pre-drilled holes on the left side of the headboard and footboard.
-
Position the left stabilizer bar so that the holes align with the headboard and footboard holes, then insert the bolts into the holes on the stabilizer bar. You might have to turn the barrel bolt slightly using a Philips screwdriver to fit the bolts into place.
-
Tighten each of the bolts with the Allen wrench provided with the bed.
-
Repeat the process on the right side with the second stabilizer bar.
-
Open the four support brackets on the sides of the mattress spring so that they form a “Y”.
-
Select one of the three holes along the spring’s frame to set the mattress height.
-
Insert one of the screws provided through the hole, then through the spring bracket.
-
Attach a wing nut to the screw and tighten it to secure the bracket in place.
-
Repeat with the three remaining brackets. Make sure the spring is level when you are finished.
-
Insert the screws provided through the predrilled holes on the outside of the stabilizer rails, then through the loose end of each bracket.
-
Attach a wing nut to the end of each screw and tighten.
-
Insert four Allen head bolts through lock washers, then slide them through the holes from the inside on both ends of the right stationary rail.
-
Position the right stationary rail so that the holes on the ends line up with the predrilled holes on the headboard and footboard.
-
Insert the bolts into the corresponding holes on the headboard and footboard; tighten the bolts with the Allen wrench.
-
Repeat Steps 14 to 16 for the left rail.
-
Lay the crib on its side and screw the crib feet tightly into the holes on the bottom of each leg.
