Dishes may become cloudy for a few reasons, although the most common is due to hard water. Fortunately, troubleshooting cloudy dishes in your Bosch dishwasher is easy when you know what to look for.

Soak one of the cloudy dishes in undiluted white vinegar for five minutes to determine the cause of the cloudiness. If the cloudiness disappears after the five minute soak, then the cause was hard water, so you need to add more detergent to your wash cycle or use a water softener. If it is not removed, then it is considered a permanent condition called "etching.” Use less detergent in this case, and use a cycle with no pre-washing steps.

Add white vinegar to the dishwashing liquid tank, and run a cycle with no dishes every two to three months. This cleans away any deposits and residue from inside the dishwasher and the main drain. Hard water deposits, grease and soap residue sometimes stay around inside the machine, and this often causes cloudy dishes when you run a cycle.

Use a cup of white vinegar as part of your washing cycle in the dishwasher if you know you have hard water and often get cloudy dishes. Pour the vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher, and add the normal amount of dishwashing liquid, powder or tablet.

Remove the dishes immediately after the dishwasher has finished its cycle. Dry each dish with a lint-free cloth. The cloudiness could be a result of the dishes not being dried completely, and the streaks from the water are causing them to appear cloudy.
