Measure the space and determine how much track and how many doors you'll need.

Finish the doors if necessary. Bifold doors are available in a wide variety of styles including louvered, plain and decorative panel.

Put hinges on the doors. Door sets will come with the hinges already attached, but if you're spanning a large room, you will need to add hinges to connect the sets of doors. They should be placed 11 inches from the bottom, 7 inches from the top and in the center between these 2 measurements.

Follow the instructions that came with your hardware for installing the pivot plates and locking arms. Pivot plates fit into the track and floor bracket. Locking arms are the hooks that slide along the track.

Install the top track and slide the hanging hardware onto it.

Install a bottom track directly below the top track. Not all bifold doors use bottom tracks. Some use door guides or door aligners. Choose the least intrusive method for your room.

Put the lower pivot point into the socket in the lower track and then put the top pivot point in the upper socket.

Close the doors and adjust them if necessary. Adjust the track sockets to make them fit evenly in the space and raise or lower them by changing the height of the lower pivot pin.
