How to Get Rid of Sweat Bees Around a Pool
Sweat bees are bees that are attracted to human sweat. Sweat bees are relatively small and often make their homes in wood. All bees, including sweat bees need to search and collect water. They will use whatever water source is nearby, even pools.
Things You Will Need
- Dish soap
- Water
- Empty spray bottle
Tip
You can also set out some beer can traps. Dump 3/4 of the beer out of the can and then set it out near the pool. The bees will be attracted to the beer, but will end up drowning in the beer when they can't get back out of the can.
Warning
Keep your distance from the sweat bees when you spray them. You don't want the bee to retaliate.
Sweat bees can become a pest, and definitely a health concern for anyone who is allergic to bee stings. It is best if you get rid of the sweat bees that are hanging out near your pool.
-
Pour a quarter of a cup of dish soap in to an empty spray bottle.
-
Add one cup of warm water and stir the two ingredients together.
-
Squirt the sweat bees that are located near your pool. The bees will die.
-
Keep the spray bottle handy so that you can continue to squirt all of the sweat bees you see for the next few days. Eventually there will be no bees left to go back to the hive and tell the other sweat bees where the water is. Your pool will then be free of sweat bees.
