Removal of Rat Feces

Fill a bucket with one gallon warm water. Add 1 ½ cups chlorine bleach to the bucket. Use a funnel to transfer a portion of the mixture into a clean, empty spray bottle.

Put on a pair of rubber gloves. Spray the rat droppings and surrounding area thoroughly with the bleach solution. Let it sit on the rat feces for 20 minutes.

Scoop up the rat dropping with a thick stack of paper towels. Place the paper towels and feces into a plastic bag. Seal the bag tightly and place the bag into another plastic bag. Seal that bag and dispose of it in an outdoor trash bin promptly.

Scrub the area where the rat feces were located using a rag and the bucket of bleach solution. Rinse out the rag often while cleaning the area.

Wash your gloved hands thoroughly with warm, soapy water. Take off the gloves and wash your hands and arms with warm, soapy water. Launder your clothing in hot water.
