How to Use Potpourri Refresher Oil

Eventually the scent fades from an open dish of potpourri, and it can be expensive to replace. Not to worry. Potpourri refresher oils are readily available, and you can use them in a variety of ways to add fragrance to your home.

Refreshing Faded Potpourri

1. Put your scent-faded potpourri into a freezer-sized plastic bag. Fill the bag only halfway, and use more than one bag if you have a lot of potpourri.



2. Sprinkle 6 to 10 drops of potpourri refresher oil--you can buy the oil at a home goods store--into each bag. Shake the bags gently, turning the bags to make sure that the oil is evenly distributed throughout the potpourri.



3. Seal the bag tightly and let the potpourri soak up the refresher oil overnight. Place the potpourri in pretty bowls or pots and set them out around your home.

Other Uses for Potpourri Refresher Oil

1. Soak a cotton ball in potpourri refresher oil and place it in a plastic snack bag. Put the open bag in your lingerie or sock drawer to freshen the clothing.



2. Place a cotton ball soaked with potpourri refresher oil inside your vacuum cleaner bag to scent the house as you vacuum.



3. Dribble a few drops of oil onto a used dryer sheets. Let them dry and then slip them inside the covers of your couch cushions.



4. Put a few drops of potpourri refresher oil on a clean, worn-out washcloth and tuck it under the seat of your car.



5. Soak half a dozen cotton balls in potpourri oil and put them in a jelly jar. Poke holes in the lid, place it on the jar and set the whole thing in a corner of your closet.
