How to Clean a Metal Shower Caddy
A metal shower caddy allows you to store your shampoo, conditioner, soap and other items in the shower without forcing you to bend over toward the ground or step out of the shower to use them. However, rust, fingerprints and other particles can appear on these caddies due to everyday use.
While a dirty shower caddy may seem like nothing more than a minor inconvenience, the particles found on it can transfer onto and stain items resting in the caddy. Luckily, a homemade solution can be used to thoroughly remove these particles as well as odors found on the caddy.
Things You Will Need
- Tub or sink
- Baking soda
- White vinegar
- Water
- Sponge
-
Remove all soaps, shampoos and other items from the metal shower caddy.
-
Place the shower caddy inside a clean, empty, stoppered tub or sink.
-
Pour ½ cup baking soda and approximately 2 to 3 cups of vinegar into the tub or sink.
-
Fill the sink or tub with enough water that the shower caddy is submerged. Soak the caddy in the water, vinegar and baking soda solution for roughly 30 minutes.
-
Remove the caddy from the solution and dip the sponge into the solution to saturate it.
-
Wipe the caddy thoroughly with the sponge to remove any remaining dirt and particles and rinse it in clear, warm water.
-
Dry the caddy thoroughly with a soft cloth to avoid the development of rust.
