How to Clean Vinyl Decks

Vinyl is a weather-resistant material that is commonly used in outdoor decks in both residential and commercial properties. It's a low-maintenance material that is highly durable and never needs to be painted or sealed. The nonporous surface of vinyl is resistant to most stains and is easy to clean. Use a few common household items to keep your vinyl deck looking like new.

Spray the vinyl deck with a garden hose to wash away dirt and loose debris.

Add liquid dishwashing soap to a bucket of warm water.

Apply the soap solution to the deck.

Scrub the vinyl with a scrub brush working the soap into any dirt or residue. The soap will break up residue, making it much easier to remove and wash away.

Reapply the soap solution to the deck, working in small sections, until the entire deck is covered. Scrub away remaining stains.

Rinse the deck with the garden hose to remove soap and dirt.

Things You Will Need

  • Garden hose
  • Liquid dishwashing soap
  • Water
  • Bucket
  • Scrub brush

  • Do not use abrasive cleaners (acidic) on vinyl. This will damage the material.
