How to Get Rid of Scratches on Stainless Steel

Stainless steel appliances are an elegant touch to any home.

Keep your stainless steel scratch free with special cleaner.
However, keeping them scratch free takes some maintenance. By routinely treating your stainless steel appliance for scratches, you may prevent long-term wear and tear and keep your appliances looking new. With some basic stainless steel cleaner that can be purchased from the hardware or grocery store, you should have no problem removing scratches from the surface. .

Gently clean the area, using mild soap and water.

Dry the area completely with a towel. Be sure the area is free from lint or towel remnants once dry.

Light up the stainless steel with an additional lamp if overhead lighting is not enough. Place the lamp so you can see all the scratches on the stainless steel surface.

Apply stainless steel cleaner to a clean sponge. Rub the sponge against the surface of the stainless steel where the scratches are. Rub with the grain of the stainless steel.

Periodically wipe the stainless steel clean with a towel to check that the scratches are fading or disappearing. You may have to apply the stainless steel cleaner several times for the scratches to fully fade.

Once the scratches have disappeared, use mild soap and water to clean the area, then towel it dry.
