How to Tile a Round Table Top
Adding a new piece of furniture to a room can change the entire mood and style of the décor. Sometimes you do not even need to buy a new furniture piece. If you want to add something to your existing round table, then you can spruce it up by turning it into a mosaic tiled table top. Gather the materials needed and get to work.
Step 1
Lay the tracing paper on top of the table, and trace the outer edge with the pencil. This will give you the exact size of the table to use as your template so that you can cut your tiles to the correct size.
Step 2
Arrange the tiles on a flat surface making sure they are touching on all sides. Lay each tile out within the boundaries of the template, leaving half an inch of space between all tile pieces.
Step 3
Place the template on top of the tiles, and then use the erasable marker to trace the template onto the tiles.
Step 4
Use the wet saw to cut the outer tiles into a rounded shape along the template's line.
Step 5
Spread thinset across the table top using the trowel.
Step 6
Place the outer tiles along the edge of the table, curved side outward, and leave about 1/2 inch of space between each tile. Continue laying the tiles along the top until it is complete.
Step 7
Allow 24 hours for the thinset to harden and mold to the tiles.
Step 8
Apply the grout. Place grout over the tiles, and spread it over the tiles with the grout float to push it in between the spaces around the tiles.
Step 9
Dampen a soft cloth and wipe the grout off of the top of the tiles.
Step 10
Allow 48 hours for the grout to harden, and then paint a thin coating of sealer across the entire table to prevent moisture from being absorbed. Allow another 24 hours to dry before using the table.

Tips
- You do not need to create a "lip" around the table if you apply the grout carefully. Creating a lip for a round table is difficult when using wood, so it is not necessary.
