Ensure that the drill is clean before use. Pieces of wood or metal from a previous job can clog the drill bit area, causing it to malfunction. Ensure every air vent is clean.
Check the power cord and ensure that it is firmly plugged into the system. If it is not, push it in all the way because the drill will not work with a loose plug.
Tighten the hex bolts at the bottom of the base with an adjustable wrench if the base is loose. A loose base is a hazard because the drill could slip while drilling through material.
Open and close the drill chuck a few times to ensure no debris is caught inside.
Verify the drill bits being used are not bent or chipped, as the drill will not work properly with a bent or chipped bit.
