Jeff Lockshin

Rawl is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high quality anchor bolts used for construction, industrial maintenance and renovation projects. Rawl anchor bolts are used primarily to install structures to concrete, brick, block and stone.

Whether you need to anchor a road sign to a concrete block or fasten a steel "I" beam into precast concrete, Rawl has an anchor bolt to get the job done.

  1. Mark an "X " on the base material where you will drill a hole to install your fixture. Do this when using a non through hole Rawl anchor bolt. Rawl non though hole anchor bolts do not allow drilling through the fixture template into the base material.

  2. Center the fixture template hole over the area where the hole in the base material will be drilled. Do this when installing Rawl through hole anchor bolts. Through hole anchor bolts allow drilling into the base material through the fixture template hole.

  3. Insert a carbide tipped drill bit in the chuck of a hammer drill. Use the same size drill bit as the diameter of the Rawl anchor bolt you will use. Make sure the usable length of the drill bit is at least 1/2 inch longer than the anchor bolt.

  4. Drill a hole into the "X" mark in the base material if you are installing a non through hole bolt. Clean the dust from the hole with compressed air or a nylon brush. Align the fixture template hole over the drilled hole. Hold the fixture in place with your hand or clamping devise. Insert the Rawl anchor in the hole. Engage the hex head of the anchor bolt with a socket wrench. Torque the head of the bolt till tight.

  5. Align the fixture template hole over the area where you are installing a through hole anchor bolt. Hold the fixture in place with your hand or clamping devise. Drill a hole though the fixture template hole into the base material. Insert the Rawl anchor. Engage the hex head of the anchor bolt with a socket wrench. Torque the head of the bolt till tight.
