How to Get Sticker Adhesive Off Metal

Mel Frank

Stickers can be difficult to remove from a number of surfaces, including metal. To remove the sticker safely use something that quickly breaks apart the sticker adhesive, as the adhesive is typically the culprit that seems impossible to remove.

Remove stickers with vinegar.

During the removal process make sure no damage is caused to the metal surface.

  1. Tear a piece of paper towel about 1/4 inch bigger than the sticker on all sides.

  2. Soak the paper towel in vinegar and place over the sticker. Let it sit in place for about 10 minutes.

  3. Remove the paper towel and try to peel away at the sticker. If it does not easily peel off, allow the paper towel to sit in place for an additional 10 minutes, until you are able to easily peel away the sticker.

  4. Moisten a fresh paper towel with vinegar and rub over the area to remove any leftover sticker adhesive. The vinegar is safe for the metal and will dry clear.
