How to Install a Malm Nightstand
Ikea's Malm line of furniture has modern, space-saving styling designed to make the most of living in close quarters. Once assembled, the Malm nightstand attaches directly to the Malm bed headboard so the small shelf faces the top and the large drawer assembly creates a shelf on the bottom.
The design takes up little floor space while providing a necessary bedside table area. Ikea provides illustrated assembly instructions with each of their pieces and the Malm nightstand's booklet includes the installation details for mounting your Malm nightstand to the Malm headboard.
-
Find the pilot holes drilled on the back of the Malm headboard. These two small holes mark the point where the Malm bracket attaches to the headboard.
-
Insert the wood screw through the hole in the bracket and position the screw in the pilot hole on the back of the Malm headboard.
-
Use the Philips screwdriver to tighten the wood screw, attaching the bracket to the back of the Malm headboard.
-
Align the pilot hole on the back of the Malm nightstand with the empty hole on the bracket attached to the Malm headboard.
-
Insert the hexagonal screw into the hole in the bracket and down into the Malm headboard. Place the hexagonal key into the head of the screw and tighten. The Malm nightstand is now attached to the Malm headboard. If necessary, repeat these steps on the other side of the bed.
