Troubleshooting Sanyo Air Conditioners

Meredith Jameson

The Sanyo Corporation manufactures a wide range of products for homes and businesses, including air conditioners. Sanyo air conditioners use R-410a refrigerant and a DC inverter technology, both of which are environmentally friendly and energy-efficient.

A Sanyo air conditioner should work well under normal operating conditions. If a problem occurs, troubleshooting can help determine the cause and a potential solution.

  1. Check the circuit breaker if loss of power has caused the air conditioner to stop working. Check to make sure the power cord is firmly plugged into the unit and connected to a working power outlet.

  2. Turn off the air conditioner and disconnect it from electrical power if the compressor runs but stops suddenly. Open the front access panel and locate the condenser coil inside the unit. Remove any obstructions and wipe away excess dirt or debris with a clean, dry cloth. Close the front access panels, restore power and turn the air conditioner on.

  3. Remove and clean the air filter if the air conditioner is not working properly or not cooling efficiently. Open the front access panel and pull out the anti-mold filter. Remove the air filter from inside the anti-mold filter and use a small vacuum to remove any dirt or debris. Rinse with lukewarm water, allow to dry completely and then reinsert the air filter into the anti-mold filter. Place the anti-mold filter back in the unit and close the front access panel.

  4. Shut nearby doors and windows if the air conditioner is not cooling effectively. Ensure there are no obstructions near the air intake or discharge vents and turn the thermostat to a lower temperature than the ambient temperature.

  5. Turn the power to the air conditioner off if the “Operation” light is illuminated but the air conditioner unit is not running. Wait 15 minutes, then restart the unit. If the problem continues, contact an authorized service technician.

  6. Contact an authorized service technician if the above steps do not help resolve the problem.
