How to Apply Black Jack Drive Maxx 700
Black Jack Drive Maxx 700 is a gel-type sealer for asphalt driveways that requires no stirring. Experts recommend sealing asphalt driveways regularly for maximum longevity. Drive Maxx 700 should be applied when the air temperature is between 65 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit, and two coats are required.
Set aside an entire day to complete this project.
-
Prepare the driveway for sealing by removing any plants growing in cracks and repairing any cracks or holes. Cracks and holes can be filled with products available at most home centers. Allow time for crack fillers to properly cure before continuing.
-
Clean the driveway. First use a stiff broom to remove loose dirt and debris. Then scrub any grease spots with the appropriate solvent or cleaner; laundry soaps work well. Finally, hose down the entire driveway. Allow the surface to dry.
-
Pour Drive Maxx 700 on the driveway, and using the driveway brush or a squeegee, spread the sealer widthwise across the driveway. Continue in this fashion, pouring sealer and spreading it, being sure to overlap brush strokes.
-
Allow the first coat to fully cure before applying the required second coat. This will typically take four to 12 hours, depending upon drying conditions.
-
Pour more sealer on the driveway, but this time spread the sealer lengthwise. Continue until the entire driveway is sealed. Allow the sealer to cure for 24 to 48 hours before walking or driving on it.
Things You Will Need
- Broom
- Scrub brush
- Crack filler
- Garden hose
- Driveway brush with squeegee
Tip
New asphalt should be allowed to cure for at least six months, including one summer season, before being sealed. To test if a new driveway is ready for sealing, spray water on the driveway. If the water beads up, the driveway is not yet ready for sealer. To test if the sealer is fully cured, rub the driveway with a white cotton rag. If the rag becomes black, the sealer is not yet fully cured. Black Jack Drive Maxx 700 is water based and can be cleaned with soap and water.
Warning
Black Jack Drive Maxx 700 will stain concrete, brickwork and other surfaces.
