While normal cleaning should take care of most messing in the frying pan, some built up food particles may need a powder cleanser to remove.

Things You Will Need

  • Soap
  • Sponge
  • Damp cloth
  • Nylon mesh cleaning pad
  • Spatula
  • Powdered cleanser

General Cleaning

  1. Remove the heat control and wipe the face of it with a damp cloth. Set the heat control aside and do not let the unit come into contact with any water.

  2. Scrub any food residue away from the frying pan with a nylon mesh cleaning pad or a stainless steel scouring pad. Do not use steel wool as it can damage the stainless steel. Work the pad in a circular motion until the food particles are removed.

  3. Place the frying pan in hot, soapy water and use a sponge or cloth to wipe it down. When it is clean, rinse and dry the frying pan. You can also place the frying pan in a dishwasher instead of washing it.

Power Cleaning

  1. Fill the frying pan to just under the top with water. Cover the frying pan and turn the heat control to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water starts to boil, remove the cover and scrape the sides and bottom of the pan with a spatula. Most food residues will come off.

  2. Remove the heat element and wash the frying pan in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry the pan when you are done.

  3. Cover the pan with a thin film of powdered cleanser. Make sure that the cleanser does not contain chlorine or bleach as these can damage the stainless steel. Scrub the frying pan with a nylon mesh cleaning pad. Move the pad in a circular motion to remove mottling, brown or tacky food residue. The powdered cleanser should also remove discoloration due to heat exposure. Wash and rinse the frying pan when you are done.

The Drip Cap

  • An electric frying pan, often called an electric skillet, consists of two pieces: the heat control and the skillet pan.
  • While normal cleaning should take care of most messing in the frying pan, some built up food particles may need a powder cleanser to remove.
  • Place the frying pan in hot, soapy water and use a sponge or cloth to wipe it down.
  • Most food residues will come off.
  • Rinse and dry the pan when you are done.
