How to Clean a Serta Mattress

Add an attachment to your vacuum and suck up any surface dirt or other debris that is present on your Serta mattress. The method of removing stains from your mattress depends on the type of stain that is present.

Urine Stains

1. Blot up fresh urine stains with paper towels. Continue blotting until no more urine can be absorbed. Discard the paper towels in the trash.

2. Pour white vinegar into a spray bottle.

3. Spray the urine stain area with the vinegar. Allow the vinegar to air dry on the mattress.

4. Sprinkle baking soda on top of the stain and allow to sit overnight.

5. Vacuum the baking soda up. If the stain or odor is still present, repeat the process.

Blood Stains

1. Create a solution of 3 cups of warm water and 2 tbsp. of a mild dish-washing liquid.

2. Saturate a cloth in the solution.

3. Blot at the blood stain with the saturated cloth. Start at the edge of the stain and work towards the center. Continue blotting until the stain is gone.

4. Add cool water to a container. Saturate a clean cloth in the water and wring out the excess liquid.

5. Blot the area with the damp cloth to remove the soap residue. Allow the mattress to air dry completely.

General Stains

1. Combine ¼ cup of powder laundry detergent with 1 cup of warm water.

2. Beat the mixture with a whisk to form suds. The suds should have the consistency of whipped cream.

3. Apply the mixture with a sponge directly on the stain. Rub the suds into the mattress with the sponge.

4. Saturate a clean cloth in water. Wring out the excess liquid.

5. Rinse the area with the saturated cloth. Allow the mattress to air dry completely.

Removing Mold and Mildew

1. Move the mattress outside or to an area of the house where it will receive direct sunlight.

2. Create a solution of equal parts bleach and water inside a spray bottle.

3. Spray the mold or mildew stains with the solution. Scrub the area with a cloth or sponge.

4. Saturate a clean cloth in water. Rinse the mold stains with the saturated cloth.

5. Allow the mattress to sit in direct sunlight for a few hours.
