How to Get the Cat Pee Smell Out of Your Sink

J. Johnson

Pets can be great to have in your home. They can add warmth to your home’s environment and give you satisfying companionship. With pets, however, come many different types of foul odors. The most foul of them all might just be cat pee.

Cats can pee in some strange places.

If your cat has decided to make your sink the litter box, then you will definitely have a cat pee smell issue. Your sink might also get a cat pee smell after rinsing items that were covered in cat pee. With the right cleaning methods, your sink will smell much more pleasant in no time.

  1. Remove any standing cat pee from your sink by soaking it up with paper towels. Avoid rinsing it down the drain. This could add to the cat pee smell problem.

  2. Sprinkle baking soda all over the sink. This is a natural deodorizer that will help soak up much of the smell. Scrub the baking soda into the sink with a scrubbing brush.

  3. Mix together 1 ounce of vinegar for every 8 ounces of water. Vinegar is another substance that will naturally deodorize hard surfaces.

  4. Rinse the sink with the vinegar solution, and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, scrub the sink thoroughly and rinse.

  5. Spray the entire sink with an enzymatic cleaner. This type of cleaner will break down any remaining cat pee and help to neutralize the smell. Let it sit in your sink for several minutes and rinse.
