How to Make a Dog Deodorizer
Your dog may be your buddy, but you probably don’t want it to come close to you when it stinks. Bathing your dog will get rid of the smell, but it’s hard to give your pooch a bath every day. A little freshening up is all that is needed.
Pet stores sell commercial dog deodorizers, but these products are costly and often contain harsh ingredients. Make a non-toxic, homemade dog deodorizer that will make your furry friend smell good.

Pour ¾ cup baking soda into a bowl. Add ¼ cup arrowroot powedr, 1 tbsp. ground lavender and 15 to 20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Good choices for essential oil are eucalyptus, tea tree, cedarwood or lavender; however, you can use any scent that smells good to you.

Stir up the ingredients well with a spoon. Let the mixture sit at room temperature for a minimum of 30 minutes before applying it to your dog.

Work the mixture into your dog’s coat, avoiding the face and mouth area. Leave the mixture on without rinsing.

Tip
Make an alternative dog deodorizer by mixing ¼ cup white vinegar with ½ gallon warm water. Put the mixture into a clean, empty spray bottle and saturate the dog’s fur with the solution. Pat the dog dry with a towel but do not rinse the vinegar mixture off of the animal. Some odors in dogs may be a sign of infection or disease. Check with your veterinarian to rule out any illness.
